PC Games

All of our games are separated by genre. The following is a brief explanation of each type offered.

Action

Games under Action are typically First-person shooter (FPS), a genre of video games which is characterized by an on-screen view that simulates the playable character's perspective and a focus on the use of ranged weapons such as guns. More recently they are starting to include multiplayer games that include spellcraft and melee combat.

RPG & MMORPG

Games under this category are typically single or multiplayer roleplay games. Play can usually be single player, multiplayer on the LAN or massively multiplayer over the internet.

Massive(ly) multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a genre of online role-playing video games (RPGs) in which a large number of players interact with one another in a virtual world. While we have the game clients installed, most require a monthly subscription fee to play. The following MMORPGs are continually updated and available to all of our members:

  • Guild Wars: Eye of the North
  • World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
  • City of Heroes/City of Villians

Let us know if there are any other MMO game clients that you wish we had. We are currently evaluating Everquest 2, Eve Online, Lord of the Rings Online and Fury. And we will DEFINITELY have Warhammer Online when it is released.

Strategy

Real-time strategy (often abbreviated as RTS) is a genre of wargames which take place in real time, where resource gathering, base building, technology development and high-level control over multiple units are key components.

RTS is distinct from turn-based strategy as RTS titles do not involve "turns" like board games such as chess. Rather, game time is continuous, and all players may interact with the game environment at any time. This is in many cases a very distinct form of play, as mere seconds of distraction could give the enemy an advantage (contrasting to turn-based where the opponent cannot counter until the player is done).

All games under Strategy are RTS, with the exception of Civilization 4: Warlords, which is turn-based.

Some basic Windows applications are also available, like Calculator and Media Player.

Internet

We also have a variety of preinstalled internet chat applications, including Yahoo Messanger, MSN Messanger and AOL Instant Messanger. We also have a variety of VoIP applications such as Teamspeak, Ventrilo and Skype.

Internet Explorer is also kept update with all the latest plugins for your browsing enjoyment. Flash, Java and Shockwave are preinstalled and regularly updated to help you view streaming video, play games and enjoy other dynamic web content.
